In a TV landscape increasingly being drained of originality and unable to provoke much in the way of thought, this show is an interesting diversion of derivative concepts that came before it. Its strongest suit is the basic but well put together visual aesthetic. Lines are usually clean or very fitting on location set pieces. The acting is reasonably strong for the most part with its lead actress and her quirky New Yorker charm being its most endearing quality. Even if she is functionally unable to differentiate herself from her previous role of note on Netflix. The weakest element is the groundhog day repeating loop premise of the show that seeks to be a convoluted "inception" of doomed timelines that ultimately share little cohesiveness between each one and as such strangles any inventiveness the show might have hoped to have. Sadly nearly every major plot point was predictably telegraphed to the point of practically beating the viewer over the head with it. All in all it is an overall good effort. I would rate it a 7.5 but rounded up to reflect how poor the current TV landscape is in 2018-2019 season that sees what should otherwise amount to a filler TV series get upped to a show to look forward to potentially having a second season. Hopefully capitalizing on some of the darker themes and concepts that the second half of the first season flirted with.
